INITIAL MILITARY AERONAUTICS TRAINING

The mission of the Initial Military Aeronautical Training Center (CFAMI) is to ensure the initial training of all aircrew of the Air and Space Force by providing theoretical and practical instruction for the benefit of students from the French Air and Space Force Academy, flight crew officer cadets (EOPN), weapons system officer cadet navigators (NOSA).

The CFAMI also provides training to many foreign cadets (South-East Asia, Middle East and Africa).

The pedagogical approach followed by the CFAMI is based on the following two axes :

  • training through success with an orientation phase (glider, CERPAIR tests, in-flight pre-orientation course), a consolidation phase allowing the acquisition of the fundamental expectations of military piloting and validation of the success forecasts made in the development phase guidance and a specialization phase comprising skills-based training and the adaptation of programs to the student's abilities.
  • downloading which, on the basis of a combat unit employment reference system, makes it possible to determine the deadlines for acquiring skills during the training phase by seeking to anticipate this acquisition as much as possible (example: the employment of a system).

The objective of the training provided at the CFAMI is to transmit, to the students under its responsibility, the knowledge, know-how and interpersonal skills necessary for the pursuit of an aeronautical career as a pilot or combat navigator within the 'Air Force.

To carry out its missions, the CFAMI is made up of several entities, each an expert in the fields entrusted to it.

INITIATION TO FLIGHT SQUADRON (EIVV)

The practice of gliding constitutes the basis of the aeronautical initiation of future aircrew of the Air and Space Force, in particular students of the French Air and Space Force Academy during the years of schooling at Salon de Provence.

The EIVV is responsible for implementing this practice, through a fleet of Marianne and Pégase gliders, motor gliders and Jodel D140 tugs. The objective is to lead students to the glider pilot license.

The EIVV also participates in federal gliding competitions and continues an important and historic link with the gliding community.

FLIGHT INSTRUCTION SQUADRONS

Two CFAMI squadrons, 3/5 "COMTAT-VENAISSIN" and 2/93 "CEVENNES", carry out the training of student pilots and implement Cirrus SR20 aircraft, of modern design and which allow student officers a first approach to capabilities of “system” acquisition.

The 1/93 "AUNIS" Combat Navigators Training Squadron is responsible for the instruction of student navigators on Cirrus SR22, in common core, and in pre-specialization for the transport and in-flight refueling courses. The hunting specialization is then carried out in Tours, that of transport or in-flight refueling in the operational units.

AIRCREW GROUND TRAINING SQUADRON

The EISPN provides theoretical training for aircrew students through the ATPL (Air Transport Pilot Licence, approved by the DGAC) for student pilots and appropriate theoretical training for students navigators, foreign students and students simulator instructors.
